Norgespris (Norway price)
Norgespris is a fixed electricity price you can order for your metering point. Here is what the scheme means, and how it compares with the spot price after the electricity subsidy over the last seven days in each price area.

What is Norgespris?
Norgespris is a fixed price of 40 øre/kWh excl. VAT, 50 øre/kWh incl. 25% VAT. Households in Nordland, Troms and Finnmark pay no VAT on electricity, and there Norgespris is 40 øre/kWh.
This price applies to the price period 1 October 2025–31 December 2026. The Norgespris regulation runs until 31 December 2029, and for a new price period you have to order Norgespris again.

How much consumption does it cover?
Norgespris covers the first 5,000 kWh a month for a home and the first 1,000 kWh a month for a cabin. Consumption above the cap is paid at your normal contract price.

How to order Norgespris
You order it yourself, one metering point at a time, on Elhub's Min side (minside.elhub.no). Norgespris is settled on the grid (nettleie) invoice, and you still need a normal electricity contract with a supplier.

Norgespris or the electricity subsidy
You cannot have both Norgespris and the electricity subsidy (strømstøtte) on the same metering point. Without Norgespris you get the subsidy: 90% of the spot price above 77 øre/kWh excl. VAT, worked out hour by hour.

Norgespris and the spot price by price area
The spot price is the mean of the last seven full days. “After subsidy” is the same price with the electricity subsidy deducted, worked out for one hour at the average price. Every figure is øre/kWh incl. VAT. In NO4 we compute without VAT, because households in Nordland, Troms and Finnmark pay no VAT on electricity.
| Price area | Spot price, 7 days | After subsidy | Norgespris | Which is cheaper |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| NO1 Østlandet | 190.6 | 105.7 | 50.0 | Norgespris is 55.7 øre/kWh cheaper than the spot price with the subsidy |
| NO2 Sørlandet | 208.5 | 107.5 | 50.0 | Norgespris is 57.5 øre/kWh cheaper than the spot price with the subsidy |
| NO3 Midt-Norge | 123.9 | 99.0 | 50.0 | Norgespris is 49.0 øre/kWh cheaper than the spot price with the subsidy |
| NO4 Nord-Norge | 21.8 | 21.8 | 40.0 | The spot price with the subsidy is 18.2 øre/kWh cheaper than Norgespris |
| NO5 Vestlandet | 182.6 | 104.9 | 50.0 | Norgespris is 54.9 øre/kWh cheaper than the spot price with the subsidy |
The table compares the electricity price alone: Norgespris against the spot price after the subsidy. Markup, monthly fee, the electricity tax and the grid fee are not included.
For a single hour: when the spot price is above Norgespris (50 øre/kWh incl. VAT, 40 øre in NO4), Norgespris is lower than the spot price after the subsidy. When the spot price is below Norgespris, the spot price is the lower one.
The subsidy is worked out hour by hour, so a calculation on a seven-day average is only an estimate: hours with a spot price above 77 øre/kWh excl. VAT earn the subsidy even when the average is lower. Which comes out lower over a whole month depends on the spot price hour by hour and on when you use electricity.
The difference in kroner for your consumption
Pick your price area and enter how much electricity your home uses a month. The calculator covers a home, not a cabin.
At the average price of the last seven days in NO1 Østlandet and 1,200 kWh a month, Norgespris is 668 kr a month cheaper than the spot price with the subsidy.
The price period runs until 31 December 2026. You have 14 days from ordering to cancel. Once that cancellation period has passed, your metering point is bound to Norgespris for the rest of the price period, that is, until 31 December 2026. To continue into a new price period you have to order again. Source (in Norwegian): NVE: Dette er Norgespris ↗
The amount is the per-kWh difference in the table above times your consumption, up to 5,000 kWh a month, for one month. Every kWh is priced at the area's average for the last seven days, not hour by hour.
The quick picks are the annual consumptions the comparison uses, divided by 12. Markup, monthly fee, the electricity tax and the grid fee are not included.
You still need an electricity contract
With or without Norgespris you have a contract with a supplier, and consumption above 5,000 kWh a month is paid under it. The comparison lists the contracts in your price area, sorted by estimated total price — without Norgespris and without the subsidy.
